This was a slow start for me. I wasn't really feeling it when I first started reading. But by the second or third chapter, I was hooked. I stayed up way too late and woke up way too early to finish the book.
This wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. While I enjoyed it, I loved how I didn't really know what was going on. I didn't read the back of the book before starting, which isn't usual for me. There were parts that I figured out easily, but there were some I had not. And I love that. I love it when I can't figure out the entire thing before the end.
I liked the idea of Riley trying to be the first girl, ever, to become a master trapper. Maybe it's just because I am a girl, but it's nice to see when characters still try to do things despite it being a mans game. I'm a sucker for those kinds of stories. I'm excited to see what all Riley will be able to do.
I wasn't happy about the ending. It seemed to cut off almost abruptly, leaving the rest as the intro of the next book. I didn't want the book to end at all and was disappointed when I had no more to read. It will be a long wait for the next one, but I'm really excited to continue this story.
