This was my second steampunk novel and so far I'm not totally sure what I think of the genre. This, to me, was hard to read. It was very detailed oriented, I found myself skimming bits and pieces here and there to get to the story. I was expecting a fast pace novel for the plot of this book. While it wasn't at a crawl, it wasn't at a gallop either.
I liked the story, even though I had a hard time with all the details. The plot was really interesting to me. The idea of the 'Little Beasties' was interesting. I liked Finley, Griff, Jasper and even Jack Dandy. I'm hoping that the details were just a lot of world building, because I do plan on trying out the second novel.
I know I wasn't as impressed with this as others seemed to have been. But, despite everything, I did like it. I didn't hate it. I'm actually interested in what happens after the ending of this book. It has a great plot, hopefully I can focus better when the next one comes out.
