I wasn't sure how this story would turn out. But I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the first book and the second was just as good. Breena was raised to be a gentle woman who would be married off for political reasons. I was glad to see she still had some life to her after her escape.
The only thing I'm not sure of, is the timeline. I'm not sure where this is in reference to the first book, but I have a feeling it comes into play later. The story of the berserkers was great. I felt bad for Osborn after hearing of his childhood. I was able to connect with both Breena and Osborn and was rooting for them to succeed in both battle and love.
I haven't read a series quite like this before, where each book is in the hands of a different writer. I was a little unsure at first, but now I'm pretty excited to move on to the next. I'm really intrigued with the story arc that goes through the books. The Blood Sorcerer makes for such a great bad guy and I can't wait to see how things turn out in the 3rd and 4th book.
This is my first Jill Monroe novel and I have to say I'm glad I've read something by her. I really enjoyed the way she wrote the story and look forward to reading more from her.
