I was hoping for a little more out of this. I loved the first and I was really excited for the sequel. It was still a good read, but it didn't feel as exciting as the first. But I did like the story, even when I figured it out half way through the book.
I really like Evie. She's a great character. She's had to make some choices in this book and I was kind of glad to see her make some of the ones I wanted her to. I was a little scared when Lend and Evie started having problems but I was glad that it didn't last the whole book and it wasn't dragged out to the next to keep readers hanging on to something. I actually thought the fight and the resolution felt real. That both sides had concerns that overwhelmed them but they eventually were able to bring all that stuff to the table and air it out.
At first, I was a little sad that this wasn't a little more focused on the romance side, but after a bit, I was able to lose myself in the story and was able to forget about everything else. While I was able to figure out the mystery really fast, I was still hanging on to every word to figure out the why. Very good writing.
This is a very exciting series and I'm very excited to see more from Kiersten White.
