This may be my favorite so far. I'm going to admit, I had the same view of Virgil's wife that everyone else in the book did. I didn't have a high opinion of her and dismissed her in the role of classy, strong woman. I have made a mistake. She is stronger than I had ever dreamed she could be.
What I love about Rachel Gibson is that she doesn't take the role of heroine and give it to some bimbo who is dumber than a box of rocks. She takes misunderstood characters, gives them a unique history and gives them a time to shine. Not all of them are self assured, able to take care of themselves, but they adapt and they learn. I really have to had it to Rachel for writing complex and believable heroines that any girl can look up to.
Okay, that said, I was rooting for Faith this entire novel. I was more focused on her that I put the romance second in the list of things to hope for. Faith doesn't have it easy after her husband passes away. She encounters hurdle after hurdle and still manages to keep her head held high. If it were me, I would have given up long before Faith.
While this is a very read worthy series, I definitely recommend this book above the rest so far. Incredible story all around.
