Wow! That ending! I didn't see any of that coming and now I'm super excited for the next one. I love Celaena. She's not some meek, helpless little girl, nor is she invincible. She's made some friends along the way and maybe, just maybe, a few important allies.
The King's mission. It seemed so straight forward at first, but the story twisted and changed and a few things I didn't see coming happened. And I love that, that I didn't see it coming. I think Ms. Maas did a wonderful job of planning and writing this story out to surprise her readers and to have it all make sense. Nothing irritates me more than a very poorly executed story.
Celaena is our reluctant hero. She doesn't step up right away and as the story unfolds, you can see why. But I love that she isn't predictable. Circumstances force her into action, instead of her choosing to do so. Now that she's on her way, I can't wait to see what she brings to the next book.
