I've had this sitting on my shelf forever. I bought it just after the release because the cover really caught my attention. But I let it just sit there until I had gone through most of the other books on my shelf. I picked this up and almost immediately, I was kicking myself for waiting so long. It had me from the start and I sailed right on through it.

I wasn't sure what to make of the pride. We don't see them too much in this one, we see Jacinda struggling to adapt to a completely different life. I felt her loss almost as keenly as she did herself. Her draki withering in her new surroundings. I'm not going to lie, I didn't care for her mom for some of this. I get she was protecting Jacinda, but I didn't like she was forcing a huge decision onto her daughter.

I really did like this but I'm a little wary of how things will go in the coming books. I'm not usually a fan of Romeo and Juliet story lines or love triangles. And this has both. I like Will, but I like Cassian a bit more. I tend to latch onto the guy that most likely won't come out on top. This would have been a 5 star book if the romance in it wasn't so complicated.

I really liked the dragon aspect of this. It really stands out with all the other paranormal young adult books out there and it was very entertaining. I'm glad I finally picked it up and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next. ASAP.
